Troy Ryder is just another cog in the Model City’s machine of despair. He has a degree in rhetoric, but he works at a gas station. His boss, Greg, is abusing his female coworkers. His crushes never return his attempts at flirtation. And then he walked into a public bathroom and came face-to-face with a giant robot from another dimension.

ASPIRE, a supplement that claims to bring out your true self, is transforming bad people into violent monsters. Troy’s boss is the first to undergo this transformation. With the life of one of his coworkers on the line, Troy uses his newfound powers to transform into a hero capable of meeting this monstrous threat.

HERO COMPLEX #1 is the first in an ongoing run of independent comics. Inspired by the stories of Japanese Tokusatsu and American comics, this series follows Tokuman and his battle against the forces of Despair that ravage the model city.
